The Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute (CHLI) joins the nation in mourning the passing of Senator Lindsey Graham, a dedicated public servant whose decades of service left a lasting impact on our country.
Senator Graham was a longtime friend of CHLI and a steadfast supporter of the values of freedom, democracy, and opportunity throughout the Western Hemisphere. Throughout his career, he consistently championed and stood in solidarity with those fighting for liberty around the world.
CHLI was honored to recognize Senator Graham in 2023 at the CHLI Annual Gala, where he received the CHLI Leadership in Public Service Award. Our founder and former Chairman, the late Congressman Lincoln Díaz-Balart, honored him in recognition of his unwavering advocacy for freedom and democracy.
“Senator Graham understood that the defense of democratic values is a responsibility shared by all who cherish freedom,” said the Honorable Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, chairwoman of CHLI. “We are deeply grateful for his friendship and his service to our nation. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, staff, and the people of South Carolina during this difficult time.”
