The Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute (CHLI) today announced the appointment of U.S. Representative Jimmy Panetta of California to its Board of Directors.
Congressman Panetta brings a record of public service, bipartisan engagement, and work on economic and international policy issues that will support CHLI’s mission to advance economic opportunity and prepare future Hispanic leaders.

“We are proud and honored to welcome Congressman Panetta to the CHLI Board of Directors,” said CHLI Chairwoman, The Honorable Ileana Ros-Lehtinen. “His dedication to public service, understanding of global competitiveness, and commitment to building practical partnerships make him a valuable addition to our leadership. His perspective will strengthen CHLI as we continue creating opportunities for Hispanic students and professionals to lead in business, government, and their communities.”
Congressman Panetta represents California’s 19th Congressional District and was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2016. A former prosecutor and U.S. Navy Reserve intelligence officer, he currently serves on the House Committee on Ways and Means and the House Committee on the Budget and is a Chief Deputy Whip in the 119th Congress.
“I am proud to join the CHLI Board of Directors and support its work to empower Hispanic leaders across the United States and throughout the Western Hemisphere,” Congressman Panetta said. “CHLI understands that America’s economic strength depends on ensuring that communities have access to the tools, networks, and opportunities needed to succeed. I look forward to working with CHLI to expand those opportunities and help prepare future leaders.”
Congressman Panetta’s experience in federal policymaking, international economic issues, public service, and cross-sector collaboration will contribute to CHLI’s ongoing work in leadership development, economic opportunity, and global competitiveness.
