Thank You for Attending CHLI’s Tech Talk on Artificial Intelligence!
Thank you to everyone who joined our Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute (CHLI) Tech Talk on AI at Florida International University (FIU) in Washington, D.C., on March 20th, 2024. This year’s discussion on AI offered profound insights into the pervasive influence of AI technologies and their significant impact on various facets of our lives, with a special focus on the implications within the Hispanic community.
The event started with a warm and heartfelt welcome from CHLI Chairwoman, the Honorable Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, and CHLI’s President and CEO, Mary Ann Gomez Orta. Their opening remarks set the stage for an important discussion on AI and its social, economic, and electoral impact.
CHLI Congressional Board Member Representative Tony Gonzales (TX) followed with introductory remarks that provided a valuable foundation for the conversations that ensued, emphasizing the need for informed engagement with AI technologies.
We were then privileged to hear from Susana Gonzales of AIandYou, who led a distinguished panel of experts, each bringing unique insights into the conversation. Tom Clees of the Recording Industry Association of America, Mimi Whitehouse of Accenture, Jorge Lopez of Gartner, and Dr. Leonardo Bobadilla of Florida International University contributed to a rich and diverse dialogue. Their expertise illuminated the multifaceted nature of AI, from ethical considerations to practical applications, and its relevance to industries and communities alike.
Carlos Becerra, the Associate Vice President of Government and Community Affairs at FIU in Washington D.C., provided closing remarks that not only summarized the day’s discussions but also inspired us to continue exploring and engaging with the opportunities and challenges presented by AI.
Our heartfelt thanks go to our generous sponsors: Accenture, Amazon, Capital One, Chevron, Florida International University, and Promtrix. Their support was instrumental in the success of our Tech Talk, allowing us to bring together AI thought leaders, policymakers, and community members for this essential dialogue.
As we reflect on the insights shared during the Tech Talk, we are reminded of the importance of staying informed and engaged with technological advancements that shape our future. As we discussed at the end of the event, it is incumbent on all of us to engage on this emerging tech, and to spread the curiosity to other members of our community.
We look forward to your continued support and engagement in our future events and initiatives.
