The event began with CHLI President & CEO, Mary Ann Gomez Orta, welcoming participants and highlighting Puerto Rico’s strategic importance for U.S. national security.

The briefing continued  with inspiring remarks by The Honorable Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, CHLI Chairwoman, and Congresswoman Jenniffer González-Colón of Puerto Rico, discussing Puerto Rico’s promising future.

The diverse panel of experts, moderated by George Laws Garcia, Executive Director for the Puerto Rico Statehood Council provided meaningful insights on Puerto Rico’s future. The panel included Andrés Martínez-Fernández, Senior Policy Analyst, Allison Center for National Security at The Heritage Foundation; Jose Luis Rivera-Rivera, Former President and Current Board Member of the Puerto Rico Economic Association; Christina D. Ponsa-Kraus, George Welwood Murray Professor of Legal History at Columbia Law School and Dr. Justin Velez-Hagan, National Puerto Rican Chamber of Commerce.
