Génesis Sofia Ibarra is a Salvadoreña who grew up in Las Vegas and moved to New York for higher education. She graduated from Hofstra University with a BA in Journalism and a double minor in Fine Arts and Philosophy. Genesis began her career in communications as a Writer/Photojournalist at the Long Island Herald Newspapers. Genesis then transitioned into non-profit communications with positions at organizations such as DoSomething.Org, ViaCare LA, The Black Institute, and Cares of NY. Ms. Ibarra now works as a Communications Fellow at the Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute; she promotes CHLI’s messages and amplifies their audience by using her writing, public relations, marketing, and graphic design skills.
Ms. Ibarra is a painter in her spare time and owns a small business creating commissioned artwork. Out of all her awards/honors, the most compelling one is the 4th-grade “Trustworthiness” award which made her want to grow into an adult with integrity and compassion for humanity.
