Yisel Cabrera is Senior Manager of Economic Mobility and Hispanic Initiatives at Ford Motor Company Fund. In this capacity, she is responsible for developing and directing philanthropic, charitable, and social impact programs that increase economic mobility and opportunities for under-resourced communities around the world. She also works to ensure that Hispanics in the U.S. have equitable access to pathways to high quality jobs, and that Hispanic youth are prepared for the future of work.
Yisel also served as Government and Community Relations Manager at Ford Motor Company in Washington, DC, where she was responsible for supporting federal advocacy efforts, and developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders to confirm Ford’s purpose to help build a better world where every person is free to move and pursue their dreams. She was also responsible for overseeing all philanthropic, charitable, and social impact projects in U.S. Operation Better World markets, leading the Ford Volunteers Corps, managing a portfolio of women and veterans’ initiatives, and leading social impact investments for the Ford Innovation Fund.
Prior to joining Ford, Yisel was the Director of Alumni Relations at St. Thomas University in Miami Gardens, Florida, where she was responsible for planning and implementing programs that strategically engaged alumni with the university. Serving as an ambassador for the university, Yisel was charged with securing commitments from alumni to provide professional expertise and volunteer service; and partnering with University Advancement to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward alumni giving.
Yisel also served as Manager of Corporate Social Responsibility at Burger King Corp. in Miami, Florida, where she was responsible for leading the communications and development efforts of the Burger King McLamore Foundation. She also oversaw the Foundation’s expansion in Europe, Middle East, and Africa, and led the North America in-restaurant donation program, the Burger King Corp. annual giving campaign and other key CSR initiatives.
Prior to joining Burger King Corp., Yisel worked as Executive Director at the Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute (CHLI) in Washington, D.C. Her contributions focused on working with the Board of Directors and staff to assess and develop the outreach, development, and cultivation plans of external relationships with the organization’s key stakeholders. She also collaborated with Congressional and corporate partners to identify and support programs that help to advance the U.S. Hispanic community, and developed strategic partnerships with other Washington, D.C. based think tanks and non-profit
organizations.
A native of Cuba, Yisel is passionate about increasing economic mobility and opportunities for Hispanics in the U.S, and empowering women and girls around the world. She serves on the board of The Washington Center which provides internships and seminars in Washington, D.C., and is an advocate of experiential and life-long learning. She is a graduate of Miami Dade College, the University of Tampa, and the Georgetown University Center for Public & Nonprofit Leadership.
