Angela Williams is the Sr. Director of External Affairs at Stride. She provides leadership on the Government Affairs team for strategic outreach to lawmakers, coalitions and third-party organizations. She also provides leadership for Stride’s Communities of Color Initiative. Prior to joining Stride the Honorable Angela Williams served a decade in the Colorado State Legislature as a State Senator and State Representative. She was also a candidate for U.S. Senate. She proudly served as Chairperson of the Business Labor & Technology Committee. Vice Chair, Local Government Committee and member of the Legislative Council Committee. Sen. Williams is the first African American female to serve as the House Majority Caucus Chair and Chair of the State Audit committee. As one of the few women of color who served in the Colorado legislature, she advocated and sponsored legislation that advanced equality for small businesses, women, children and communities of color.
Williams is recognized as a community leader that has served on several community boards. In her career she has founded three non-profit organizations; Chamber Connect Leadership Development Program, The Colorado Black Legislative Caucus and The Colorado Power of Black Women Summit. She recently was recognized by Delta Sigma Theta, Denver Alumnus Chapter for the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Frankie Muse Service Award that she will forever treasure.
Williams was born and raised in Oklahoma. She graduated from Northeastern State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree. Sen. Williams holds a certificate of completion from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. She is a graduate of Council of State Governments Henry Toll Fellowship program. Williams recently completed the State Government Affairs Council Professional Certificate Program and resides in Nashville, TN.
