Interested in U.S.- Puerto-Rico Policy? Join the Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute (CHLI) at the Puerto Rico Policy Hill Briefing on July 31st beginning at 4:00 pm at 2060 Rayburn House Office Building.

The briefing will feature opening remarks from CHLI Chairwoman, the Honorable Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and Congresswoman Jenniffer González-Colón (PR).

The panel will be moderated by George Laws Garcia, Executive Director for the Puerto Rico Statehood Council. The panel of experts will include Andrés Martínez-Fernández, Senior Policy Analyst, Allison Center for National Security at The Heritage Foundation; Jose Luis Rivera-Rivera, Former President and Current Board Member of the Puerto Rico Economic Association; and Christina D. Ponsa-Kraus, George Welwood Murray Professor of Legal History at Columbia Law School. They will discuss how addressing Puerto Rico’s political status is crucial for advancing U.S. strategic goals and bolstering economic prosperity through strengthened ties.

From Puerto Rico’s economic revitalization to the infrastructure reconstruction post-Hurricane Maria, the CHLI Puerto Rico policy briefing will explore the strategic significance of Puerto Rico for U.S. national security amidst rising Chinese influence in Latin America and the Caribbean.
