Washington, D.C. — The Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute (CHLI) held its Congressional Public Policy Briefing on Energy on Thursday, April 16, 2026, on Capitol Hill. 

The briefing convened industry leaders and energy experts for a discussion focused on the challenges and opportunities shaping the future of U.S. energy production, infrastructure, and policy.

The program began with opening remarks from CHLI Chairwoman, The Honorable Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, who underscored the importance of reliable, affordable, and secure energy systems in an increasingly complex global environment.

The program featured special remarks from CHLI Board Member, Rep. Carlos Giménez (FL), who emphasized the importance of strengthening energy infrastructure and advancing forward-looking policy solutions that support economic growth and national security.

The briefing was moderated by CHLI Board Member, The Honorable Bill Flores, Chair & CEO of Serolf Technologies. Panelists included: Daniel Simmons, Principal at Simmons Energy and Environmental Strategies; CHLI Advisory Council Member, Maria Pia Tamburri, Vice President of Intergovernmental Affairs and Economic Development at Dominion Energy; Ric Perez, Principal at RG Perez & Associates; and Ashley Nichols McManus, Vice President at Lot Sixteen. 

The panelists discussed strategies for meeting rising U.S. energy demand, strengthening domestic energy production, and advancing innovation across the energy sector. 

The briefing concluded with an engaging Q&A session, where attendees had the opportunity to further explore key issues impacting the energy sector.
