The Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute (CHLI) thanks everyone who joined us at our 14th Annual Global Trade Symposium in Washington, D.C., on September 30, 2025. Special thanks to our host, Akin.

This year’s theme, “Trade Policy at a Crossroads: Strengthening Opportunities for the Western Hemisphere,” brought together the diplomatic community, trade experts, and industry leaders to discuss the future of trade, its impact on global competitiveness, and its significance for the U.S. Hispanic and Portuguese communities.

“This event could not have come at a better time,” said CHLI Chairwoman, The Honorable Ileana Ros-Lehtinen. “Trade is truly at a crossroads, and the choices we make today will determine how we unite and grow as a hemisphere. CHLI’s Annual Global Trade Symposium provides an essential platform to advance this dialogue.”

The symposium continued with special remarks by our distinguished guest, OAS Secretary-General Albert Ramdin, who shared his perspective on advancing diplomatic trade efforts across the Hemisphere.

“As a region, the Americas has great promise — and with strong, principled partnerships, it can become a critical engine for economic growth, democratic resilience, and regional security. The leadership of Hispanic members of Congress plays a vital role in fostering these partnerships, strengthening ties across the hemisphere, and championing shared prosperity and democratic values,” said OAS Secretary General Albert Ramdin.

The program featured two dynamic panel discussions:
