About The Trade Symposium
In the spirit of CHLI’s vision of advancing the Hispanic Community’s diversity of thought, the CHLI Trade & International Affairs Symposium brings together Members of Congress, U.S. government officials, corporate and trade association experts, and members of the diplomatic community to discuss trade issues and international affairs that affect U.S. global competitiveness.
Held during Hispanic Heritage Month, the Symposium is spearheaded by CHLI’s Vice-Chairmen Congressman Henry Cuellar (TX) and Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart (FL), and includes discussions on the importance of the U.S. Hispanic Community’s contributions to the global economy, and the importance of trade for our hemisphere’s diplomatic relations and global competitiveness.
Some former keynote speakers include U.S. Treasurer Jovita Carranza; Alvaro Uribe, Former President of Colombia, Ambassador Mark Green, Woodrow Wilson Center; Jason E. Kearns, Chair of the U.S. International Trade Commission; Mauricio Claver-Carone, President of the Inter-American Development Bank; Governor John Engler; Senator Marco Rubio; John Barsa, Acting Administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development, and Juan Rodriguez Inciarte, founder of the U.S.-Spain Counsel.
