Angelica Peralta is a first-generation Dominican-American born and raised in New York City. With her family background in law enforcement, she joined the NYPD and FBI explorers aspiring to be police officer. Eventually, she worked for the New York Police Department as a Police Cadet. During her time, she was promoted to a leadership position as company sergeant.
Although she would’ve had a successful career within the department, Angelica decided to leave all of that behind to take a risk and move to Florida and continue her education at the University of Miami. During her time at UM, she became part of the first-ever cohort of the Latina Project, which empowers Hispanic female students to prosper in their careers and businesses. In addition, Angelica was selected as President of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA), which seeks to advance the public relations profession by nurturing generations of future professionals. Amongst her other accomplishments, her determination, persistence, and ambition demonstrate the strong woman the New York native is.
Angelica is currently working as the Social Media and Communications Fellow at CHLI. Her passion for helping others and bringing representation to underserved communities fills her spirit with joy. She believes that as the next generation, it is essential to make a positive difference in the world.
